Dylan Healy’s father – a NAIT alumni – was influential in convincing Dylan to go to NAIT for his education. After graduating with a diploma in Business Administration in 2012, Dylan wanted to diversify his skills to pursue a career in the trades.
Dylan was enjoying success as a car salesman when he discovered he had a talent for working with computer circuitry and fixing things. When he started to explore a career change, Dylan spoke with several journeyman electricians about their careers and their advice for the best route to get started in the trades.
Familiar with the quality of education he received through NAIT’s Business Administration program, Dylan enrolled in NAIT’s Electrical Trades Basic Skills course a 2-week program designed to prepare one for an apprenticeship in the electrical trade.
Crediting the hands-on practical learning, small class size and one-on-one instruction, Dylan was able to build his skills and confidence and hit the ground running in his new electrical career.
“A big part of why I chose the electrical field is that it offers something different each day, a unique work atmosphere and a chance to problem solve.”
Now working towards his Journeyman Electrician ticket and with a business diploma in hand, Dylan has all the tools he needs for a successful career and has plans to own his own electrical company.
