  • Continuing Education/Non-Credit - NAIT offers a wide range of non-credit programs and courses for personal and professional development in a number of interesting and exciting fields. These options are great for people who may be working but are interested in studying as well.

Delivery Options

The flexible schedule options for this course including time of day and full/part-time.

  • On-Campus Day - Your course activity is done in-person Monday - Friday, before 5 PM.
  • On-Campus Evening/Weekend - Your course activity is done in-person on weekdays from 5 PM or later, or Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Online Day - Your course activity is done online Monday - Friday, before 5 PM.
  • Online Evening/Weekend - Your course activity is done online on weekdays from 5 PM or later, or Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Online Flexible Delivery - Your course activity is not scheduled and therefore you can determine when to do the coursework.
  • Both On-Campus and Virtual - Some of your coursework will be in-person, on campus and some will be done online.

NAIT has partnered with The Association of Science & Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET), business leaders and industry representatives to develop two management certificate programs to meet the specific needs of technician and technologist professionals.

After completing the program, you will be able to:

Students of this program are professional technicians and technologists who are emerging leaders in organizations across all industries. Graduates of the certificate programs will differentiate themselves with strong business acumen, enabling upward mobility to the senior leadership team. Graduates will also be able to demonstrate superior understanding and application of technology management and open more career opportunities in leadership roles.

Certified Learning

ASET members will take eleven courses earn the Foundations of Management for Technology Professionals Certificate which covers introductory content across all the program outcomes. Members can deepen their management skillset and knowledge by completing the nine additional courses to earn the Advanced Principles of Management for Technology Professionals Certificate.

Who should take this certificate?

Certificate eligibility is limited to professional members of ASET.

How much time will I need to dedicate to the program?

One to three years of part-time study. Courses vary in length typically between 8 and 16 hours.

What equipment /technology do I need to participate in the course?

You will need access to a desktop computer or laptop equipped with a camera. You will also need a good internet connection in order to participate in the virtual sessions.

Can I apply the hours from this course towards my professional designation continuing education requirements?

ASET recognizes the entire program hours from this course against continuing professional development (CPD) for maintaining a professional designation. You may also use these hours as credit towards other designations, such as a PMP and CPHR.
