After several years as a project manager Charisse was looking for a career change. Having aspirations of starting her own Interior Designer firm, Cherisse knew she needed an AutoCAD course to compliment the Interior Design degree program she is taking online. As a single mother, going to school full-time and working, NAIT’s CED AutoCAD Certificate program fit her schedule best as it was hands-on and condensed, which meant she could finish within a month.
Due to unforeseen circumstances the child care she had lined up fell through, but her instructor was very accommodating allowing her children to come to “mommy’s school” and hang out just outside the classroom.
AutoCAD can be very intimidating and time consuming. The instructor took the time to work closely with Cherisse allowing time for her to work on projects at the end of the day.
“An instructor can make or break the experience. He gets what the students are going though and is very patient.”
Since taking the AutoCAD program at NAIT, Cherisse feels more confident and can now swiftly maneuver through the program. She’s looking forward to starting her new career in residential and commercial interior design.
