This course develops awareness of the legal issues that arise in the emergency medical field. It examines how to protect oneself against potential civil and criminal liability. Statutes and regulations governing the paramedic profession are examined. The requirements of securing consent, documenting patient treatment, protecting confidential information and mandatory reporting are highlighted. Personal Directives and other legal forms are examined.
