Human resources professionals, managers, employers and workers need to understand the legal relationship within which work is done to maintain a rewarding workplace and avoid legal liability. Students will learn how to advise on and make management decisions based on obligations under privacy and human rights legislation, together with employment standards, occupational health and safety, and workers compensation laws. Contract law is considered to identify common pitfalls for employers and workers that arise when they wish to make changes to or terminate the employment or contractor relationship.
