Understanding cultural differences and effectively managing these differences are critical to working, communicating and transferring knowledge in multi-cultural and international business environments. The main aim of this course is to provide conceptual and theoretical frameworks for developing an understanding of the ways in which cultures differ, how these cultural differences impact on organizations and how they may affect the transfer of communication among people. This course also identifies strategies for managing and valuing cultural diversity within varying environments. Topics will include the various dimensions of culture, similarities and differences between certain cultures, challenges and obstacles in managing cultural differences, evaluating facets of cultural elements in business environments and strategies to improve your own intercultural communication. Lectures, evaluation of case studies, discussions, films and group projects will enable you to become more knowledgeable about communicating in and managing diverse cultural environments.
