  • Requisites: This course is available to students who are in the MLT program. Prerequisites: MELT1107, ANAP1105, MELT1103, MELT1104. Co-requisites: HEMA1201, MICB1202A, MMDX1204, RSCH1100. A completion grade of C- in all prerequisite courses is required to enroll.

Students will learn the clinical significance and methods of analysis for various chemical constituents in biological specimens. Major topics will include carbohydrate metabolism, hepatic function, renal function, water and electrolyte balance, and acid-base homeostasis. Laboratory sessions will provide practice with manual techniques and operation of automated instrumentation. Correlation of laboratory test results with pathophysiological conditions will be emphasized.
