Students will learn the clinical significance and methods of analysis for various chemical constituents in biological specimens. Major topics will include clinical enzymology, cardiovascular function, amino acids and proteins, lipid metabolism, clinical toxicology, and clinical endocrinology. Laboratory sessions will provide practice with manual techniques and operation of automated instrumentation. Correlation of laboratory test results with clinical data and pathophysiology will be emphasized.
