Biomedical technologists need to understand the principles of digital systems. Introductory topics covered include: binary number systems and codes, Boolean logic, and logic gates. Combinational and sequential logic circuits are constructed and interpreted using ICs and simulation software. MSI devices are examined and are implemented to create digital systems. Digital circuit troubleshooting techniques are applied to identify faults.
