Three Phase Fundamentals

ELEC1213

  • Requisites: This course is available to students in the Electrical Engineering Technology program. Prerequisite: ELEC1181 or ( ELEC1123 and ELEC1133).
  • Course Equivalencies:
  • Open Studies: Not Available
  • Credits: 3.00

This course includes theory on three-phase systems including three-phase 4-wire wye and three-phase 3-wire delta for both ABC and ACB phase sequences. The course will look at the methods to determine the voltages and currents for each system for both balanced and unbalanced loads at various power factors. We will also look at the methods of measuring power and reactive power and the instrument transformer connections required to achieve these measurements.
