Rotating Electrical Machines I

A study of the construction, theory of operation, control and performance characteristics of DC and three-phase induction machines. Topics include induction motor revolving magnetic field, synchronous speed, slip, torque, developed power, losses, efficiency, starting and speed control. Motor models will be determined using NEMA tests, and technical specifications will be examined. Laboratory tests will be performed by students to reinforce the theory.
