ELEC2363

  • Requisites: This course is available to students in the Electrical Engineering Technology program. Prerequisite: ELEC1213, ELEC1223, MATH1260.
  • Course Equivalencies:
  • Open Studies: Not Available
  • Credits: 3.00

Topics included in this course are power system configurations, per unit system, MVA and kV base conversion, symmetrical components, types of faults, fault current sources and characteristics and shifting current through transformer banks. Fault calculations using the MVA base method and symmetrical components method are applied. Applications of symmetrical components, interrupting capacity of equipment, grounding and computer software are also utilized. Laboratory exercises will be performed by the students to reinforce the theory.
