This course provides an overview of human resources management. It focuses on the role of the human resources department and the specific functions and activities it performs. General and specific principles and procedures related to the major human resources management activities of recruitment and selection, compensation administration, employee training and development, occupational health and safety, performance evaluation, and labour relations will be examined from a functional point of view. In addition, the challenges facing human resources departments and the federal and provincial laws that affect human resources activities will be explored.
