This course emphasizes the principles and practices of preparing clinical specimens for histological examination. Major topics include gross examination and dissection, fixation, decalcification processing, embedding, microtomy, cryotomy and staining of tissue. Emphasis will also be placed on the recognition of normal human microanatomy as well as assessing various staining techniques used for differentiation of cellular and non-cellular components.
