This course will familiarize the student with the role of a medical documentation specialist, how to recognize and utilize appropriate reference material, identify and understand terminology within a healthcare setting, describe a health record, and proofread medical reports. Students will relate their knowledge of anatomical and pathological terms to medical documents and apply skills necessary for excellence in transcription. Students will transcribe dictated material using various medical report templates. Keyboarding activity built in to measure productivity.
