In order to adapt safe practices according to equipment type and ensure safe working environments, a foundational understanding of various x-ray generating modalities is necessary for Medical Radiation Technologists (MRT). Students learn the principles of operation and quality control testing of fluoroscopic systems, Computed Tomography (CT) systems, and mammographic systems in relation to clinical practice. Students will learn about other imaging and therapeutic modalities. Students also study the fundamental elements of a quality management program applied within Diagnostic Imaging departments. In the lab environment, students will operate CT and Fluoroscopic machines, they will also practice advanced applications of radiographic physics.
