The entry-to-practice requirements of Medical Radiologic Technologists are to provide safe, effective, compassionate, and ethical patient care in a variety of work environments. Students participate in clinical education at assigned Diagnostic Imaging (DI) departments performing procedures under the supervision of registered technologists and program clinical faculty. Students practice patient care and handling, radiographic positioning, equipment utilization, radiation protection, and image evaluation. Students enhance their skills and attitudes as team members and progress to becoming health care practitioners. The correlation of theory to practice will be measured in a variety of ways. Emphasis is placed on progressing towards competence in all imaging procedures identified in the National Competency Profile (NCP). Clinical rotations include imaging of the skeletal, digestive, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive systems as well as imaging procedures in Computed Tomography (CT). Students will observe/participate in imaging procedures for vascular/interventional studies, Bone Mineral Density (BMD), and mammography.
