In accordance with the new restriction Exemption Program mandated by AHS starting September 20, 2021 Ernest’s will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for ages 12 and older in order to dine with us. Rapid testing will not be accepted as an alternative to vaccination. Guests must wear masks at all times unless they are eating. We will also be offering curbside pick up as well. “One tiffin, but many hands!” - Ananya Sengupta

Tiffin style dining originated from British India, a cuisine style borne out of environmental necessity, a concept that spread and later gained popularity throughout South East Asia. The style of dining features multiple food offerings and flavors by food artisans from different kitchens to create a complete meal experience, traditionally presented in a “to-go” lunchbox or tiffin container.

“Tiffin by Ernest’s” will adopt this concept and use it to serve you in a different way on Fridays. We will offer a tiffin-style experience, a unique approach to experiential student learning, where every guest will be provided multiple but pre-plated offerings, each featuring our student-inspired creations produced from our three Ernest’s Kitchens (Garde Manger, Contemporary, and of course, the sweetest lab at NAIT, the Patisserie lab ). It may be a new approach in dining, but our commitment to the use of fresh, quality, sustainable and local foods, inspired classical cooking techniques with a contemporary flair and supporting local whenever possible, still resonates. Your Friday lunch craving can be satisfied for $24 per person plus tax.

Much like the concept’s origin, “Tiffin at Ernest’s” offers a pivot to our Friday’s Student Showcase Buffet that we all know and love, and hope will soon return. Because of the revised limited seating in our dining room, Ernest’s will offer this pre-plated Tiffin- style menu items for dine-in guests by reservation only. Given the limited in-room seating availability and for those guests who may choose to enjoy this same experience in the comfort of their own home or office, we are also excited to augment our student’s learning and showcase their skills through the “Tiffin by Ernest’s” takeaway program. Pre-order is recommended.
