NAIT receives national award for donor relations

Essential Effect Gold

The award recognizes celebration of record-setting fundraising campaign

NAIT received a Prix d’Excellence gold award for Best Donor Relations Initiative from the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education in June, 2019.

The award recognizes The Essential Effect: 100 Reasons to Celebrate, which marked the conclusion of the polytechnic's largest-ever fundraising campaign.

For several months in 2018, NAIT celebrated the success of Essential: The NAIT Campaign, which raised $125 million—surpassing its $100 million goal—in support of campus development, student success and applied research.

Essential Effect

The Essential Effect project saw NAIT marketing and communications staff curate a collection of 100 stories, photos, videos and social posts about the impact of giving leading up to the campaign celebration.

With more than 4,200 alumni, friends and industry partners supporting the campaign, it was important to commemorate how much of an impact they’ve made on NAIT’s campus and community, says Robyn Khunkun, director of development.

“Our donors truly have an essential effect at NAIT.”

“Our donors truly have an essential effect at NAIT,” says Khunkun.

“They invest by keeping our programs and campus relevant for today’s students and industry requirements as well as supporting the development of solutions to ensure industry remains competitive. Telling their stories and showcasing their impact on our institution and our students was the most meaningful way to celebrate the success of the campaign.”

In February 2018, Essential Effect was recognized with 2 bronze awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District VIII in the following categories:

  • Alumni, Fundraising, or Student Recruitment Sub-site
  • Innovation in Fundraising, Special Event and Other Communications
