Donald James Hildebrandt Memorial Scholarship

Donald James Hildebrandt (March 21, 1956 - March 28, 2015) graduated from the Forest and Resource Management Program at NAIT in 1976. Don worked his career as a Fisheries Technician/Biologist for Fish and Wildlife in Edson for 36 years and was well known throughout the fish and wildlife community for his wonderful sense of humor and his dedication to his work.  He loved the outdoors and spent most of his leisure time hiking, skiing, and camping.  On many occasions, Don returned to NAIT to engage students in fisheries field work, to talk to students about careers in fisheries, and to share the finer details of fish aging techniques.  Don was an inspiration to NAIT biology students who were just beginning careers in wildlife and fisheries; his wonderfully contagious humor and enthusiasm encouraged students to pursue their dreams of working as technicians or biologists.  Don passed away suddenly on March 28, 2015 at the age of 59 years.  This award, in memory of Don Hildebrandt, will be given to a biology student who is enthusiastic and demonstrates an ability to see the lighter side of life while excelling at their studies.
