Why are we migrating to Brightspace?

Brightspace was chosen as NAIT’s next Learning Management System (LMS) after a comprehensive consultation and procurement process using a thorough set of assessment criteria. The review allowed NAIT to evaluate the current LMS against the needs of students and staff, to identify opportunities to improve. The transition to the new LMS promises students a more user-friendly, feature-rich, mobile-accessible, and consistently supported learning experience, with access to cutting-edge technology, all aimed at enhancing your academic journey.

Can I access Brightspace on my mobile device?

Brightspace offers Brightspace Pulse, available on Google Play and the App Store, which allows students to receive course notifications on the go. The app is not recommended for course activities such as quizzes and assignments as it has some limitations. We recommend using the browser on your device for these activities (Safari on iOS, and Chrome on Android) instead of the Pulse app.

If I have a course in the Brightspace Pilot, will all my courses be in Brightspace, or will some of my courses still be in Moodle?

In most cases, if you are taking a course that is included in the Brightspace Pilot that starts in January 2024, only that course will use Brightspace. The rest of your courses will continue to use Moodle. There are a few exceptions to this so be on the lookout for email and Teams messages that tell you exactly which courses are in Brightspace.
