About Shawn McMillan

Shawn McMillan is a senior finance leader with extensive and proven experience working closely with management and boards of directors to achieve success. 

Working in a wide range of industry sectors from transportation, technology and manufacturing to construction, mining, oilfield services and professional services, he has established a record of achievement in complex business issues, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, change management, negotiations, banking and finance, investor relations, leadership development, process improvement, insurance and risk management, and complex tax situations.   

Shawn also brings a wealth of hands-on experience growing and turning around companies to maximize their value to shareholders. Working with private equity, public, private companies, and family offices, he has led more than 20 acquisitions and divestitures transactions.   

Most recently Shawn has been providing strategic consulting services as a private Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to a variety of clients, including serving as the CFO and Corporate Secretary of EarthRenew Inc., cleantech start up public company in growth stage manufacturer of regenerative fertilizer, raising $25M and as Contract CFO and Vice-President, Finance, for All Weather Windows Ltd., and advisor to KBL Environmental. Previously Shawn held the roles of CFO with Sureway Construction Group, which includes Sil Industrial Minerals, Sureway Industrial, O’Rourke Family Vineyards, Catapult Solutions and Yellowhead Aggregates, as well as other commercial real estate and land holdings.  

He served as CFO for Westcan Bulk Transport Group of Companies, where he was instrumental in expanding the company’s operations across Canada, leading the acquisition and integration of companies and the divestiture of non-core companies. During his time at Westcan, he refinanced the company, raised capital in the bond market, and oversaw the company’s sale to Kenan Advantage Group. He also served on the senior management teams of Voxcom Income Fund and Ceapro Inc. and began his career at Deloitte, where he earned his Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) accreditation. Shawn has also obtained his Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designation. 

A dedicated volunteer and community builder, Shawn has served on the boards of directors and volunteered his time for many charitable organizations, including founding the Holiday Hamper Foundation, serving on Edmonton Space and Science Foundation, Junior Achievement, Edmonton Heritage Festival, JCI Edmonton, JCI Canada, Friends of the CFR (2024), and Downtown Festival of 2010 Grey Cup.
