About Tim Cartmell
Tim brings a wealth of experience in both municipal and provincial government, including eight years as an Edmonton city councillor, where he established a strong record in public service, growth planning, transportation strategy, public accountability, and stakeholder engagement.
A civil engineer by training, Tim holds a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management from the University of Alberta. His career includes leading major capital projects, managing large-scale modernization initiatives, and overseeing multi-site lodge construction programs. Tim’s expertise encompasses not only delivering complex builds on time and within budget but also aligning capital planning with long-term institutional goals.
Tim previously served as Executive Director of Capital Planning and Spending for the Government of Alberta’s Treasury Board, where he gained valuable insight into how capital priorities are evaluated, funded, and integrated into broader fiscal strategies. This experience will enhance NAIT’s capacity to navigate funding landscapes and responsibly steward major investments.
