Update 1: Supporting you with updates on NAIT.ca
NAIT is currently engaged in the collective bargaining process with the union (NAIT Academic Staff Association – NASA) that represents instructors and other academic staff at NAIT. NAIT and NASA have been working to achieve a new collective agreement that sets out the working conditions, salaries and benefits for the academic staff since July 2024. Unfortunately, the parties have been unable to reach an agreement.
NASA will be conducting a strike vote of their members on January 14 and 15. It’s important to know that a strike vote does not mean that a strike will happen right away—or at all.
We recognize that this may create uncertainty for students and staff, and we are committed to providing timely information and updates throughout this period.
At this time, academic staff are not on strike. Classes and student learning continue as scheduled.
NAIT is committed to do our utmost to avoid interruptions to student learning and daily operations, and to negotiate a collective agreement that respects the contribution and value of our academic staff ensuring a high-quality polytechnic education for our students.
We will share updates as the situation develops, along with details including the outcome of the strike vote and its implications, as soon as information becomes available.
