Update 2: Outcome of NASA Strike Vote
NAIT is providing an update on collective bargaining with the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA).
While we await the official results from the Alberta Labour Relations Board, NASA has shared the unofficial results on its website that a majority of those who voted supported a strike mandate. A strike mandate authorizes the union to initiate job action with at least 72 hours’ notice; however, it does not mean that a strike will happen.
At this time, academic staff are not on strike, and NAIT remains fully operational. Classes and student learning continue as scheduled.
NAIT remains committed to continuing negotiations with the assistance of a mediator, with the goal of reaching a fair and sustainable collective agreement. Our priority continues to be supporting student success and minimizing disruption to teaching, learning, and core operations.
Further updates will be posted to this page as information becomes available.
Key summary
- Classes, labs, and learning activities continue as scheduled
- No strike notice has been issued by NASA to NAIT
- NAIT is committed to doing our utmost to avoid disruption to studies
- If circumstances change, NAIT will communicate directly with students to their nait.ca email, and on this website, about what to expect and what supports are available
