$400,000 gift will fund scholarships; new equipment for broadcast studio at Main Campus

NAIT Radio and Television students will benefit from a $400,000 donation from Sportsnet. The gift will fund scholarships as well as support multimedia and digital media training, development and production at NAIT.

More specifically, the donation will:

  • Support the development of an enhanced broadcast studio at NAIT’s Main Campus, to be called the Sportsnet Broadcast Studio.
  • Fund eight Radio and Television scholarships yearly for three years. These $2,500 scholarships will be awarded based on academic performance.

Students in the Television program gain skills in reporting, anchoring, videography, digital media content creation, social media, writing, video editing, commercial production, journalism, sports and more. Radio students gain skills in announcing, writing, sales, audio production, music coordination, journalism, digital media content creation and more. These are both two-year diploma programs.

Sportsnet connects Canadian sports fans to their favourite teams and athletes, using five platforms: TV, radio, print, online and mobile.
