4 business leaders receive honorary degrees as NAIT celebrates largest convocation to date

Teresa Spinelli, Bart Yachimec, Jeorg Goetsch and Mike Begin honoured at NAIT's 55th Convocation

EDMONTON – NAIT’s largest convocation to date – with more than 1,800 students crossing the stage – saw honorary degrees given to four community leaders.

Teresa Spinelli, president of the Italian Centre Shop, and Bart Yachimec, president and owner of Yachimec Auto Group of Companies, received honorary Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. Joerg Goetsch, general manager of corporate affairs with Daishowa-Marubeni International Ltd., and Mike Begin, recently retired president and CEO of Spartan Controls, received honorary Bachelor of Technology in Technology Management degrees.

For the first time this year, the polytechnic hosted five convocation ceremonies at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from May 3-5, up from four ceremonies last year and three in previous years. More than 8,000 students graduated, though not all attended convocation.
