NAIT students are preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal for hundreds of Edmonton’s less fortunate this week

Student volunteers from the Culinary Arts and Professional Meat Cutting and Merchandising programs are preparing turkey and all the trimmings for a dinner that will be served Sunday at Boyle Street Community Services.

The students involved belong to Club Culinaire, a NAIT student-managed group that has been giving back to the community through food and volunteering for more than 30 years.

This year’s meal includes 65 turkeys, 180 kilograms of vegetables, 100 litres of gravy, 180 kilograms of potatoes and 100 loaves of bread for stuffing. The food is supplied by the Edmonton Food Bank and Boyle Street Community Services and is expected to feed about 1,600 people.
