Kerry Brown spent his career helping young entrepreneurs achieve their dreams
Kerry Brown, an accountant with a 33-year investment career, is the 2019 recipient of NAIT’s Distinguished Friend of the Institute award.
Brown has led many successful angel capital funds, investing in a diverse range of companies including telecommunications, data transmission and encryption, thermo-electrics, fuel cells, lasers, biotechnology, cognitive behaviour and information technology. His passion was to help young companies and entrepreneurs succeed.
He has founded several successful venture and private equity funds, including the Foundation Equity Corporation, where he is now chairman.
Brown was a member of NAIT’s Board of Governors for two terms, from 2008 to 2014, and currently chairs the board’s investment advisory sub-committee. He also volunteers on NAIT’s Industry Solutions advisory group.
An avid outdoorsman, gardener and cook, Brown has three sons and four grandchildren. He and his wife have also organized and led many marriage enrichment seminars.
The award was presented at the NAIT Celebrates event June 5.
