(Edmonton) - NAIT is being recognized for its excellence in applied research, ranking third in Canada on the annual list of the country’s Top 50 Research Colleges by Research Infosource. In the large college category, NAIT also ranked:
- 2nd in research income
- 3rd in research intensity (research income per researcher), and
- 4th in research partnerships (192)
NAIT Applied Research works with communities and industry partners to address real-world problems. By developing customized, practical solutions, NAIT researchers support improvements in processes, technologies, and services that strengthen businesses, the environment, and drive economic growth.

From designing early wildfire detection systems for remote communities, to reducing food waste and creating Indigenous community atlases to help communities with land use and reclamation, NAIT Applied Research continues to take on innovative projects that make meaningful impacts.
