ASC Project Update

Published on October 28, 2024

Since securing a $43 million commitment from the Government of Alberta, we have been working to address key areas of progress related to the Advanced Skills Centre. NAIT has taken a pragmatic and targeted approach to ensure that every step of our work is aligned with our foundational principles of on time, on budget, and on vision.

A central part of this is welcoming Lou Zoldan as the new Senior Project Director for the Advanced Skills Centre. With nearly four decades of expertise in construction and managing large-scale projects, Lou brings significant experience in successfully delivering several multi-million dollar developments across Canada. We are confident his background will prove an asset as work continues on the Centre.

To date, this work includes establishing a strong governance model to lead this project effectively, identifying and mitigating risks, procuring the right services and people to drive the project forward, and finding other partners interested in supporting the project financially. NAIT has begun to outline the scope of work needed to initiate a Request for Proposal aimed at supporting our fund development campaign that will target industry partners, prospects and existing donors.

In support of and in preparation for working with external consultants and advisors, NAIT has been working internally to validate the scope of the space and function requirements that our organization has previously approved. Once finalized, these will help inform the architect and design teams that begin their work in January 2025.

We are incredibly grateful to have such strong partners in the Government of Alberta and the industries supporting our work in this project. This Skills Centre isn’t just for NAIT; it’s for the future of our province and our collective ability to prosper.
