How does it work?
The Blue Book program runs year-round, and you can start at any time. It’s entirely online, at your own pace, so you can work on your business idea whenever it fits your schedule.
Each step of the process is designed to help you determine if your idea can succeed, gain customer buy-in, and guide you toward launching with minimal risk and no cost. You’ll receive weekly activities, mentorship from experts at the Mawji Centre, and training from guest speakers at key points in your journey.
Twice a year—on January 15 and July 15—we review all completed work and issue $1,000 payments to participants who have finished the program.
Program
In the early stages, you’ll define your goals, outline your idea, validate the problem you aim to solve, and conduct interviews. You’ll also build a pitch deck and learn to present your business idea, with the opportunity to compete in our annual Pitch Competition for prizes.
Later, you’ll de-risk your idea through assumption mapping and testing. You’ll gain foundational marketing skills, design a logo, and craft a compelling elevator pitch. We’ll guide you through essential financials and the steps to legally launch, including registration, licensing, taxation, insurance, and basic bookkeeping.
The program wraps up with the Business Innovation Showcase, where you can display your business idea and connect with the startup community for ongoing support.
