Course Overview
Establish a solid foundation in computer networking and cybersecurity by applying fundamental network and security principles. This course focuses on Local Area Networks (LANs), which interconnect computers and other devices and typically interact with other networks such as the internet. With the skills gained in this course, you will be able to describe and implement a LAN, including essential security requirements and goals. Engage in hands-on exercises led by an instructor to implement an IPv4 addressing scheme within a LAN. Apply the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference model to troubleshoot network communication issues and implement the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol suite (TCP/IP) within a LAN. Explore the importance of TCP/IP protocols in facilitating communication between different network devices, applications, processes, and operating systems. Use software tools to capture and monitor network traffic and implement the proper network infrastructure to achieve your goals. Address various threats and challenges that target computer networks, identify the objectives of these adversaries, and study countermeasures within a LAN. Prior to enrollment, it is recommended that you have taken CCTO101 Windows Desktop Operating System, equivalent courses, or have practical experience.
