ITLS - Advanced First Aid Equivalency
The medical director grants the acceptance to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and any employer or prime contractor who utilizes a registered nurse with NAIT’s ITLS Advanced Provider certification in place of a nurse with advanced first aid certification, subject to the following terms, conditions, and general requirements.
- Registered nurses who take the ITLS Advanced Provider – ITLS200 course are aware of this acceptance.
- Registered nurses who take the ITLS Advanced Provider – ITLS200 course are provided with a copy of this acceptance upon request.
Are you a registered nurse or an occupational health nurse? Upon successful completion of the ITLS Advanced Provider course at NAIT, occupational health nurses (OHN) and registered nurses (RN) will be eligible to receive Advanced First Aid (AFA) equivalency as per Occupational Health and Safety in the province of Alberta.
To qualify for this AFA equivalency, you must provide:
- a copy of your current license
- Basic Life Support certificate dated within the last 12 months
