FAQ for Agents

What are the payment deadlines after an application is accepted to NAIT?

Applicants will have 30 days from the inital e-Letter issuance to pay their tuition deposit, thereby securing their seat. Additionally, students are required to pay tuition and fees for at least one full term prior to the tuition deadline indicated on their Visa Letter of Acceptance. Payments can be processed through the MyNait Portal under the "Fees and Payments" section.

Is it possible to request an extension for the tuition deposit payment deadline?

Please note that NAIT does not offer tuition deadline extensions or exceptions. This means that you must pay your tuition and fees on or before the tuition deadline. If your're funding or third-party sponsorship has not been approved before the deadline, you will need to pay your tuition. Failure to pay your tuition by the payment deadline may result in being dropped from your classes.

What is the process to request a refund?

Credit students who withdraw from one or more classes before the 12% refund deadline will have their total tuition recalculated based on their new credit load.

The 12% deadline for individual courses can be found through the MyNAIT Portal: Open Self-Service > Manage Classes > View My Classes > Enrollment Deadlines. The drop deadline is listed as "Drop - Retain Record."

Students are only eligible for a refund, minus the tution deposit, if the recalculated tuition amount is lower than the tuition amount paid for that term.

After dropping one or more classes within the timeframe noted above, international credit students must complete the International Refund Request form (pdf), plus any other supporting letters and documentation, and submit this form using the contact form. Incomplete refund requests will not be accepted.

If your study permit is denied or you are impacted by travel restrictions, please refer to the study permit denial section for refund eligibility and next steps.

How can a student withdraw from a program at NAIT?

Students who need to withdraw from their credit program on or after the start of their first class must complete a Program Withdrawal Form with their Program Leader and submit it by selecting the Contact tab in their Program page.

Students who would like to withdraw their admission to a program before the term starts can do so by:

  1. Dropping all the classes they are currently enrolled in
  2. Emailing arperformance@nait.ca

Please note that their tuition deposit will not be refunded to them unless their study permit is denied. You can refer to the study permit denial section for refund eligibility and next steps.

How to defer an application?

If you encounter an unexpected circumstance, an admissions deferral allows you to move your seat in a degree, diploma or credit program to a future open intake without having to reapply for admission. Deferrals are only issued 1 time and are only available for new students who encounter unforseen circumstances beyond their control, such as:

How long does it take for an application to be processed?

We recommend that you apply as early as possible. Space in some programs fills up very quickly. On average, applications take 7 business days to process. Processing times may be longer depending on application volume and the time of year. NAIT processes applications based on date order of a complete submission.

After submitting your application, please provide all necessary documents (transcripts, ELP test results, etc.) as soon as possible. This can help speed up the processing time of your application.  We encourage applicants to check their MyNAIT portal regularly after applying, as all updates to applications will be posted there.
