What is Kickstart?

The first year of post-secondary studies can be an exciting time filled with new experiences and opportunities, but it can also be a lot to take in. This is why we are giving you the chance to connect with NAIT, before your New Student Orientation in the fall.

KICKSTART is a pre-orientation program for new students and provides a fantastic opportunity to make your transition to NAIT easier.

What you will learn:

  • Get to know campus - take a tour
  • Master navigation of NAIT's Student Portal
  • Learn how to fund your education
  • Identify key steps to support your academic success
  • Meet other new students
  • Get your questions answered by our panel of current students and NAIT leaders

Financing Your Education

Funding and scholarships/bursaries experts will help you discover opportunities to support your financial success.

Learning Strategies for Academic Success

Learning Services will share information on services available as well as equip you with the tools you need to reach your educational goals. You will also learn some practical tips for studying and preparing for post-secondary school.

Navigating NAIT Online

Learn how to use NAIT's online essentials including the Student Portal (your home base while at NAIT), our mobile apps (NAIT Students & NAIT Alert apps), Moodle and more. You will learn a number of things to do over the summer, that will help you to get set up for your classes in the fall.

Money Matters

This workshop is all about managing your finances and money choices to keep money in your pocket. You will discover ways to maximize your fun and your $, which will also help to minimize stress, as you navigate your education.

Student Life Hacks/Student Life on Campus

Learn practical tips and information, from the student perspective, about student life on campus (ie) great study spaces, time management tips, etc. You will also learn about activities on campus and different things for students to do (e) clubs, sporting events, intramurals, etc.

Student Well-being for Academic Success

Learn the importance of taking care of your overall well-being and the impact this has on your academic success. You will also learn about services/resources/activities at NAIT that are available to help you to do this, and some tips on what you can do over the summer to prepare yourself for school in the fall.

Q&A Panel

This is your opportunity to ask any questions that you may have about life at NAIT. A panel of NAIT representatives, including students and staff, will answer questions such as how to enrol in classes, what options are there for parking, program specific questions, etc.

Only available in Block 3.

Tour 1, Library & Learning Services

From borrowing books, discovering quiet study spaces, accessing free tutoring, to getting help with citations and learning where you can receive support for learning accommodations. Take this tour to learn more about these services and many more.

Tour 2, Recreation & Fitness

Discover where and how you can take care of your physical self, plus learn about NAIT's Athletic teams. Stops along this tour include the fitness centre, gym, arena and pool.

Tour 3, Student Wellness Resources

NAIT offers a variety of resources and services to support the well-being of NAIT students; take this campus tour to learn more about these areas! Some of the stops along this tour will be counselling, health services, reflection rooms and the well-being lounge.
