Student Service Fair

Get connected at the virtual Student Service Fair!

Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16, 2020
11:00 am – 2:00 pm MDT

Join the virtual event

Thank you to our event sponsors, ATB Financial (lead sponsor) and Mark’s Commercial.

For the first time ever, the Student Service Fair is being run virtually. What does this mean for you as an attendee? You’ll still have the same opportunity to interact with service area staff, but you’ll get to do so from the comfort of your own home!

This event is a great opportunity to connect with service areas and learn about the supports they provide to you as a NAIT student. If you need another reason to participate, how does the chance to win some prizes sound? For every service area you talk to you’ll have an opportunity to complete a short activity and get an entry to our draw to win one of two $50 One AT NAIT gift cards!

We also have a short event survey available for participants – we strive to provide meaningful events to our students and any feedback you share is appreciated. Those that provide their feedback will have a chance to win one of three $25 One at NAIT gift cards.

Note: One at NAIT gift cards can be used at Eat AT NAIT and Shop AT NAIT locations, Ernest’s, The Nest, and the Retail Meat Store.

How to Access the Virtual Event

How to Join the Event

When you click the below link, you’ll be re-directed to our interactive floorplan where you can see service areas that are participating and, as you click on the booths, you’ll be able to see a brief description of each, along with a link to join a conversation with staff members from that booth. Please note that, although you can view the interactive floorplan now, links to join conversations will only be available during the event.

How to Navigate the Event

There are two ways you can navigate the event. Click on the booth location on the floorplan or, use the sidebar menu to search by booth or category. We’ve split our service area attendees into a few key categories for easy navigation.

Again, once you click on a booth, you’ll be able to see a brief description of it, along with a link to join a conversation with staff members from that booth. Websites and social media links will also be provided when applicable.

How to Join a Conversation

We are using Microsoft Teams to facilitate conversations between students and staff members. Once you join a virtual booth, you’ll be connected with NAIT staff and you can ask them questions about their services.

If you don’t have the Microsoft Teams app on your computer, you can join the meeting through your web browser or using your mobile device (you’ll need to download the free Microsoft Teams app from the app store).

If you require closed captioning, select the three dots once in the meeting room and select ‘turn on live captions.’

If you’re not familiar with Microsoft Teams and need a bit more support on how to access the virtual booths, we’ve put together a brief PDF walking you through the different join options. You can also contact NAIT ITS at 780.471.8624.

General Guidelines

When you enter a room, a conversation may already be taking place between a staff member and another student. If this is the case, wait your turn – much like you would at an in-person event – and the staff member will be happy to address your question shortly. You can also post your question in the chat and other staff members assisting at the booth can address your question there.

When you are not speaking, we ask that you keep your microphone muted. This ensures that there are no distracting background noises.

If you’re comfortable doing so, we encourage you to keep your camera on – one of the things we’ll miss most about the in-person event is seeing all of you, but thanks to technology we can still be connected!

If you don’t have a microphone on your computer, or you’re not comfortable asking questions using your microphone, feel free to post your question(s) in the chat instead.
