Thank you for joining us at Convocation 2022! We were pleased to see so many of our grads celebrating with their families, friends, and fellow classmates. We hope you enjoyed the ceremony, special remarks, videos, and messages to celebrate your accomplishments.

On Thursday, May 5, the High Level Bridge was lit up in NAIT blue in honour of our grads!

We loved seeing so many grads and their loved ones driving by to check out  this beautiful display celebrating their accomplishments.

Honorary Degree Recipients

Honorary degrees are awarded to individuals that have provided a significant contribution to the local, national or international community. This year's recipients have made outstanding impacts in our community, which you can read about in their bios. 

 

Angela Armstrong

Edmonton business leader Angela Armstrong receives honorary degree for championing women in industry and entrepreneurship.

Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe

NAIT alum Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe receives honorary degree for spotlighting Black music and culture.

Kelsey Mitchell

NAIT grad Kelsey Mitchell receives honorary degree for unwavering dedication and determination.

Mauro Chies

NAIT alum Mauro Chie receives honorary degree for a unique focus on the well-being of Albertans.

Governor General's Academic Medal

The Governor General’s Academic Medal was first awarded in 1873 by the Earl of Dufferin, and has since become one of the most prestigious awards that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive. The Governor General of Canada continues this tradition of encouraging scholarship across the nation and recognizing outstanding students.

Notable past recipients include prime ministers Kim Campbell and Pierre Trudeau, premiers Robert Bourassa, Tommy Douglas and Robert Stanfield, and author Gabrielle Roy. The Collegiate Bronze medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a diploma level, post-secondary program.

The latest recipient at NAIT is Justine Gargula (Magnetic Resonance Imaging ’21).“I would like to thank my instructors and clinical coordinator who were pivotal to my success,” says Gargula. “I also would like to thank my friends and family for their unwavering support all these years.”
