This 16-week program is designed to help students gain skills and knowledge in upstream hydrogen production and operations, carbon capture, sequestration and product lifecycle assessment and more to elevate your career in clean energy.

About the program

During the first few weeks of the program, you will be introduced to key concepts in clean fuels and the hydrogen economy. Additionally, you will explore real workplace scenarios, such as feasibility planning for carbon capture and conversion, operation and maintenance of carbon capture facilities and operation and maintenance of carbon utilization and sequestration facilities. In the last few weeks of the program, you will be placed in work-integrated learning assignments with industry partners. Through these placements, you will be able to demonstrate your knowledge to potential employers and apply your newly acquired skills in real workplace scenarios. This subsidized program will provide you with both technical skills and soft skills to help them achieve their next step in the clean energy sector.

The Clean Energy Professional Upskilling Program is available thanks to the support of Upskill Canada [powered by] Palette Skills and the Government of Canada.

Admission requirements

This program focuses on supporting mid-career workers with at least three years of work experience seeking new career opportunities in the energy and clean technologies sector.


  • Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Work permit with at least one year on the permit after starting this upskilling program.

Academic/Professional Requirements:

Successful completion of one of the following:

  • A post-secondary certificate (achieved inside Canada only)
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree
  • During enrolment, applicants must scan clear copies of their transcripts and certificate/diploma/degree.
    • Clear copies of their transcripts and certificate/diploma/degree (if documents are in a language other than English, they must be officially translated. View this list of certified translators in Canada), or an official WES or IQAS credential assessment showing successful completion of a Diploma or Degree.
  • At least 3 years of work experience.
  • Ability to stay connected to NAIT for at least six months post-program completion for the purpose of tracking job placements and student success metrics.

  1. Cover letter that outlines your understanding of the program and how the program will help you achieve the next steps in a career in the clean energy sectory.
  2. Resume that include both your work experience and educational background.
  3. Unofficial transcripts of all of your post-secondary experience.
