OPEN - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 10am to 5pm

CLOSED - Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

NOTE: 
Store is open from mid-September to mid-December, and mid-January to mid-April, each year.

Where do you buy your meat? Why not support NAIT students in the Professional Meat Cutting and Merchandising program and also get a deal on freshly prepared and packaged meat, poultry, fish and cheese?

To provide our students with the real-world education NAIT is known for, we practice retail sales training, including customer service and display and merchandising, in NAIT's in-house meat store. 

The Retail Meat Store is open to everyone: staff, students and the general public.

About the Professional Meat Cutting and Merchandising Program

Meat merchandising and customer service are essential skills for students in the Professional Meat Cutting and Merchandising program. Working with all types of meat in a visible environment, such as a grocery store or butcher shop, is a common aspect of this career choice, so students in the program are trained extensively in sanitation, cleanliness, safety procedure and quality control.

This program provides students with hands-on instruction in:

  • working with beef, bison, pork, lamb, seafood and poultry
  • producing cured, smoked and processed meat and sausage
  • purchasing and merchandising product
  • interacting with customers and the general public

A 3-week work experience component provides students with further on-the-job training. Most graduates of the program are offered jobs at one of their work experience sites.
