Candidates should enrol as soon as they are able to secure a date that works for them. Registrations will remain open until 1 week prior to the exam date.

1. Visit the British Council IELTS online registration system.
2. Find a test date by entering your date of your choice, the town or city in which you wish to complete your exam and the exam module (either general or academic).
3. Once you’ve found your preferred test date, click “apply”.
4. Read through the “IELTS Application: Terms and Conditions” and click “I have read and agree to the above Terms and Conditions” to continue.
5. Enter your candidate details as required. Upload your photo and the scanned copies of your valid passport or Permanent Residence Card.

Register for your IELTS exam

All cancellations and transfer requests must be submitted by email to the IELTS Test Centre and must include a completed Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer form (PDF). Please email the completed form to the IELTS Test Centre at ielts@nait.ca.

Test Date Transfers

All transfer requests must be received more that 3 days prior to the date of your and will be subject to a $50 transfer fee.

Cancellations & Refunds

You can cancel your IELTS test registration at any time before taking your test by notifying your Test Centre.

Refund terms depend upon when you cancel and whether exceptional circumstances apply.

• If you cancel your IELTS test registration more than 14 days before the test you will receive a 75% refund of the total test fee which is $270.
• If you cancel your IELTS test registration within 14 days but more than three days before the test you will receive a 50% refund of the total test fee which is currently $180.
• If you cancel your IELTS test registration within three days of the test you will not receive any refund.

You may make a case for exceptional circumstances to your test centre before the test and up to five days after the test date if you did not attend the test. Your test centre will respond to you within seven working days of receiving your case in writing. Your test centre will assess your case for exceptional circumstances.

All cases for exceptional circumstances and supporting evidence must be received by your test centre no later than five days after the scheduled test date.

If your test centre approves your case, you will receive a full refund less an administration fee of no more than 25% of the test fee.

If your test centre does not approve your case, then the following terms will apply.

We define exceptional circumstances as:

• serious medical conditions which prevent you from attending or performing normally on test day; such conditions require supporting evidence of a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner
• evidence of bereavement, trauma or other forms of significant hardship
• military service.

Your scanned identity document must:

1. Include your ID number
2. Include your signature
3. Include your date of birth
4. Include your photograph
5. Include an ID expiry date
6. Be scanned in colour

Exam scores are available online 13 days after your paper test or 3 to 5 days after your computer test. Login to view your results.

Yes, if you believe there is an error in your score, you can request a re-score.

• You must request a re-score within six weeks of your test date. You must make the request by 2 p.m. on the deadline date. If the deadline is a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, you must make the request by 2 p.m. on the Friday before the deadline date.
• Your test may only be re-scored once.
• Complete an Enquiry on Results (EOR) form and submit it to NAIT at ielts@nait.ca.
• You may choose one or more parts of the test to be re-scored - the fees are the same at $250.
• If your score changes you will receive a refund of the $250 minus a $25 administrative fee. If your score does not change you are not eligible for a refund.
• Rescoring takes 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for re-mark.
• You will receive an EOR letter stating your final results. You will be required to return your previously issued Test Report Form if your result is changed before a new one can be issued.
•  Your fee for an EOR will be refunded if a score change is confirmed.

The fee for exams is $360.

Once you have registered on the IELTS online registration system, payment must be made within 48 hours through the NAIT exam registration system.

Go to the NAIT exam registration system.

1. Choose location "IELTS Edmonton"
2. Choose "IELTS Test"
3. Select the same date that you registered for on the IELTS Online Registration System
4. Select the time of your exam
5. Enter your first name, last name and email address
6. Read the Exam Guideline Acknowledgement and click "agree"
7. Enter the required IELTS confirmation number and your contact phone number
8. Click "add to cart" and complete payment
