NAIT's Bachelor of Technology in Construction Management degree program will teach you how to plan, coordinate and control a construction project from start to finish.

The program will help you combine practical skills with the technical training and theoretical knowledge you'll need to successfully manage a construction project. When you graduate, you will be ready to bridge the gap from entry-level technologist to a leadership or management role in the growing heavy-industrial, commercial, engineering or construction industries.

Hands-on, industry-relevant skills

The BTech-CM program combines practical skills with the technical training and theoretical knowledge you will need to successfully manage a construction project. When you graduate, you will be ready to bridge the gap from entry-level technologist to a leadership and management role in the growing heavy-industrial, commercial, engineering and construction industries.

Coursework will teach you the ins and outs of:

  • scheduling
  • estimating
  • safety
  • contract law
  • cost control
  • tendering
  • project management

You can expect to perform risk management, construction estimates, and scheduling activities for actual projects.

Flexible delivery

This program has been designed to allow you to meet degree requirements while still maintaining a work-life balance through traditional classroom and eLearning options. What is eLearning?

Face-to-face courses are 15 weeks in length, (8 weeks during spring term). eLearning courses are 10 weeks long. 

If you work full-time, you can take this program on a part-time basis. It is possible to take 1 or 2 classes per semester based on your workload. For face-to-face courses, lectures and labs will run 2 to 3 hours long in the evenings unless the course is offered online.

Additional requirements and considerations

Students who are conditionally accepted to the BTech-CM program pending successful completion of bridging courses may be eligible to take some courses from the BTech-CM simultaneously through Open Studies.

Advanced Credit

You may apply for advanced credit once you have been accepted into the program. Advanced credit can be Transfer Credit (for completed post-secondary courses) or PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition).

Transfer Credit

In addition to the common guidelines outlined on the Transfer and Credit Options section, your program has other advanced credit requirements that are applied to each request including:

  • You must have completed the course or program no more than 10 year(s) ago unless a formalized articulation agreement is in place
  • You must have a minimum mark of B- in the course(s) or program
