Delivery Mode

  • In-person - All your class activity will be delivered in person, on campus.
  • Online - All your class activity will be delivered online.
  • Hybrid - Your classes will be a mixture of in person and online learning. You must be able to come to campus and participate remotely online.
  • Your choice - Your program offers a variety of class delivery options (in person, online, or a mixture of both) and you can select which type of classes to take. If you wish, you can complete your entire program either in-person or online.
  • HyFlex - All your classes are delivered for simultaneous participation in person and online. You can choose daily to attend your classes in person or join remotely online.

Time

  • Your choice - You can select class times and days that fit your schedule. There are a variety of class options for you to choose from including daytime, evening, weekdays or weekends.
  • No set time - No set class days or times, content is access on-demand. You can complete your studies on your own schedule within the scheduled class dates; may have set due dates and deadlines.
  • Evenings & Weekends - Classes are scheduled after 5 p.m. on weekdays or anytime on weekends.
  • Weekdays - Daytime - Classes are scheduled on weekdays, typically start before 6 p.m.
  • Weekdays - Evening - Classes are scheduled on weekdays, typically start after 6 p.m.
  • Weekends - Classes are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays.

Credit programs that accept international applicants also meet the eligibility for the Post-Graduation Work Permit program, including programs with a Hybrid delivery mode. Each student is responsible for maintaining their eligibility throughout their studies.

What is Immersive Industry Education?

Immersive Industry Education (IIE) is a specialized apprenticeship-style form of learning that integrates substantial real-world work experience with academic instruction. In this model, students spend more than half of their educational program working on-the-job and gaining hands-on experience and practical skills.

This structure allows students to apply the skills they gained from their online learning directly to real-world cybersecurity challenges they may face on the job, enhancing their learning and making them immediately valuable to their employers. The program aims to produce highly skilled professionals equipped with both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary to meet the demands of the cybersecurity field.

What are the eligibility requirements for this program?

The program is tailored specifically for employed IT professionals looking to enhance their cybersecurity expertise. Students must show proof of employment and have an IT-related diploma or degree.

How is this program structured?

The program is comprised of 10 courses that are delivered in a self-paced, online format and 1000 hours of on-the-job training. Students will spend a minimum of 51% of their program duration working directly with their employer.

How does the on-the-job learning component work?

More than half of your learning occurs on the job, meaning you can keep your regular employment while your work hours count towards your educational credits. This ensures that the program seamlessly integrates with your daily job responsibilities.

What kind of practical experience will I get during the program?

During work hours, you'll have opportunities to apply your learnings directly to practical scenarios under the guidance of workplace mentors. This hands-on experience enriches your understanding of cybersecurity concepts and prepares you for real-world challenges.

How are students assessed in the program?

Students are assessed through a combination of learning materials and validation of on-the-job competencies. NAIT assigns course grades and collaborates with industry partners to ensure learning outcomes are met. 

What kind of support will I receive during the program?

Students will have access to instructors for direct support and mentorship from industry experts at their place of employment. 

How long does it take to complete the program?

The program is designed to be completed in two years, providing you with a comprehensive cybersecurity education that equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in your career. 

What credential will I receive upon completion?

Graduates will receive a two-year post-diploma certificate in Cybersecurity with a specialization in Immersive Industry Education.
