NAIT's new summer camps include 3D printing and heavy equipment operating

In addition to its popular sports, recreation, and culinary camps, NAIT introduces career pathway camps for teens.

EDMONTON – NAIT’s 2017 summer camps begin today, with dozens of fun options for kids aged 5 to 17 running to the end of August. New this year are the 3D Creator camp and Intro to Heavy Equipment Operator camp, both aimed at giving 14- to 17-year-olds a taste of potential careers.

Digital media camps include film making, photography, web design, computer game design and anime drawing. Recreation camps include the girls-only G-Force camps, boy-only Fun Fitness camps, street performers camps and sport Olympics camps.

Other highlights

Rad Camp Extreme – (July 10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, July 31-Aug. 4, Aug. 14-18) Kids aged 9 to 12 go skateboarding, paintballing, rock climbing and more.
Photo Op note: This year, each camp on Thursday morning will feature outdoor “bubble sports” including a giant inflatable ball to play in.

Youth In Design – (Aug. 8-11) Kids aged 10-14 spend half the day learning about interior design and architecture, and the other half in games and activities, including swimming, in NAIT’s recreational facilities.

Culinary Camps – Junior Chefs and Junior Bakers for kids and teens aged 8-10, 11-13 and 14-16, are held throughout the summer.

3D Creator Camp – (July 10-14, Aug. 21-25) Teens aged 14-17 will learn basic electrical principles to create a prototype project, then learn Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) to 3D print their prototype.

Intro to Heavy Equipment Operator – (July 10-14) Teens aged 14-17 will learn about operating all types of heavy equipment, from forklifts to mobile cranes, using simulators and guided learning in NAIT’s heavy equipment yard. Note: This camp takes place at NAIT’s Spruce Grove Campus.
