The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) is Provincial Legislation.
Freedom of Information, or Part 1
Provides people with a right of access to general records in the custody or control of a public body, including access to their own records, subject to limited and specific exceptions. NAIT is a public body under the Act.
Protection of Privacy, or Part 2
Establishes limitations to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by NAIT to protect the privacy of individuals.
Disclosure of Information in Archives, or Part 3
Outlines provisions relating to disclosure from archives for research purposes.
Roles and Powers of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, or Part 4
Outlines the role and powers of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
Reviews and Complaints, or Part 5
Outlines the process for review of a decision by NAIT regarding access or correction of personal information to the Commissioner, the process for complaint regarding Commissioner's decision, and process for inquiry regarding collection use or disclosure of personal information.
