NAIT's Open House offers a taste of polytechnic programs
Prospective students and public can see more than 100 displays and interactive exhibits, inicluding hands-on demonstrations
Open House 2017 will showcase NAIT’s wide range of hands-on programs with more than 100 booths, demonstrations and lab tours available on Friday and Saturday.
The event will give visitors a chance to tour NAIT’s state-of-the-art facilities, including labs and simulators in the new Centre for Applied Technology, one of the largest post-secondary facilities in Canada. Students and faculty will be on hand to talk about NAIT’s wide array of programs in business, applied sciences and technology, health and life sciences, and skilled trades.
As one of Canada’s leading polytechnics, NAIT is committed to student success. Open House is NAIT’s largest annual recruitment event, regularly attracting more than 13,000 visitors.

Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Near North Lobby (Outside of O Building):
Students and staff from the Welder program will challenge NAIT Open House visitors to see if they have what it takes to be a welder. Visitors can put on overalls and a welding mask and try some simple welding.
South Lobby (in O Building):
The Baking and Pastry Arts program will have interactive activities, with visitors invited to decorate cookies as well as grind and mill wheat. Students will also display their impressive bread art.
The Radio and Television program will open up its radio and television studios to the public for visitors to watch how commercials and newscast are made. Visitors also have the chance to voice their own radio spots or host their own news show. (Room V248)
Centre for Applied Technology (CAT) second floor by pedway to HP:
Staff and students in the Nanotechnology Systems program will be dressed in cleanroom suits. They will show how a Scanning Electron Microscope is used to view grains of salt, bugs and more. Visitors can view a NAIT logo smaller than the diameter of a human hair.
Centre for Heavy Equipment Technology (HET Building) and A Building:
The Heavy Equipment Technician programs will have on hand some of the big toys and tools used in construction, mining, forestry and transportation.
The Alternative Energy Technology program will offer tours of the NAIT Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies. The centre houses solar electric, solar thermal, geothermal, wind, microhydro and many other leading energy technologies.
