Complementing the technical skills of sonography, this course will allow students to reflect on their own values, beliefs and attitudes towards patient care, while providing the foundational knowledge of communication skills including history taking and reporting to a physician. Communication challenges, bioethics, and patient diversity are highlighted. Skills to adapt to these special circumstances will be practiced. Students will also explore legislation and standards of practice as they pertain to diagnostic medical sonography.
