Fundamentals of Cardiac Sonography

  • Requisites: This course is available to students in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Prerequisites: DMSC1170, DMSC1100, PHYS1112. A completion grade of C- in all prerequisite courses is required to enroll.

Students learn the introductory concepts of cardiac sonography including anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics of the heart. Some cardiac pathologies and assessment techniques with two dimensional (2D), motion mode (M-mode), and Doppler along with their respective clinical presentation will also be introduced. Ultrasound scanning techniques will be reinforced in a laboratory setting.
