Students learn relational anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy and physiology of the superficial structures of the body including thyroid, parathyroid glands, salivary glands, breast, abdominal wall, prostate, scrotum, and lymph nodes. Normal and pathological presentations are studied. Theory taught in this course will be integrated in the lab setting where students will develop skills and proper sonographic techniques necessary to image these structures. A combination abdomen/pelvis ultrasound exam will be performed in preparation for clinical one.
