In order to evaluate the capabilities and limitations of physical layer technologies, a student needs to understand the electrical characteristics of media. Students will learn and demonstrate basic circuit analysis skills along with the fundamentals of semiconductor electronics as they apply to networking technologies. Electrical power for networking equipment will be discussed, including relevant safety standards.
